  • Click Start and point to Programs->Microsoft Exchange
  • Click on system Manager
  • If the administrative groups branch exists in the left pane, expand the appropriate administrative group branch->expand the appropriate server branch. You just need to double click the branch you need to expand.
  • For each database that you wish to restore, expand the associated storage group branch and the click on dismount the store. 

To restore Exchange Server, follow these steps below:

  • Click Start->programs->Accessories->System tools->backup
  • Click the Restore tab
  • Expand the File branch present in left pane and click on backup branch you wish to restore.
  • For each object that has to be restored, expand the associated storage group, select the objects and check the box.
  • Select the option that you want to restore the files to box and click on start Restore
  • Type the Server name in the Restore To box, and type the full path of the folder for logs files.
  • Click to select the Last backup set check box and click to mount the database after the complete restoration
  • Type the complete path, file name of backup file that you wish to restore in the restore from backup file box and click OK. You can choose to browse the file in order to locate it instead of typing.
  • After the restore Exchange Server, click Close.
